More than 1,600 journalists from six continents cover the activities of the Global Media Congress

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 17 November 2022:

The Global Media Congress, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, sees the participation of more than 1,600 journalists from six continents covering the Congress’ activities.

The Congress, which is running until 17 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), also witnesses participation from media sector pioneers, specialists, and influencers from across the globe.

The Global Media Congress is organized by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and includes an exhibition and conference that offers an ideal platform to exchange ideas and experiences on various topics, including artificial intelligence, data, revolutionary technologies, and consumer behaviour, in addition to major media trends and expectations.

The event hailed journalists covering the event from 141 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America, with journalists from Asia making up 78% of the total journalists covering the Congress, and journalists from Africa making up 11%, along with 5% from Europe, 2% from South America, and 3% from North America and Australia.

Traditional media outlets, including newspapers, TV and radio channels, and websites accounted for the largest share of participating media professionals with a rate of 52.5% of the total number of participants.

Additionally, representatives of news agencies from 126 countries constitutes 23% of the total participants, while journalists representing newspapers and websites accounted for 18% of the total, with magazines and TV channels making up 10%, and radio channels 1.5%.

New media platforms accounted for 47.5% of the total participants in the coverage of the activities of the Congress, which attracted a wide range of prominent influencers from the region and the world.

The Global Media Congress involves more than 30 debates and workshops featuring more than 162 globally renowned speakers.

Moreover, the exhibition hosts more than 170 prominent media establishments and companies from 38 countries from all over the world, showcasing the latest international technologies.

This is in addition to featuring a number of accompanying events held for the first time in the Middle East.

The first edition of the Global Media Congress includes the Global Buyers Program, which brings together more than 170 buyers to offer an exceptional platform that unites the most prominent buyers and suppliers from all over the world to highlight the best technologies and services in the media sector.

The Congress will feature six major initiatives: the Live Shows Platform, the Global Program for Empowering Young Media Professionals, the Future Media Lab, the Innovation Platform, the Global Buyers Program, and a special session on the role of media in consecrating a culture of tolerance in human societies
