Rose Des Vents celebrates the favourite flower of Mr. Christian Dior, seamlessly incorporating it into the collection’s stunning pieces…

Dior’s ‘Rose Des Vents’ Joaillerie Collection pays homage to femininity, beauty and, of course, Christian Dior’s favourite flower: the rose.

The French fashion house’s newest fine jewellry collection incorporates a few of its founder’s favourite tokens into the line of expertly-crafted necklaces, bracelets, rings and pendants, while playing into the concept of creation, expression and, of course, understated luxury.

“Rose Des Vents, The Wind Rose, is also a metaphor for creation,” notes Victoire De Castellane, the creative director of Dior Joaillerie.

“Creating is about searching, turning things over, and then finding ones cardinal point and setting off on a journey. Creation is the product of a stationary voyage.”

From pavé diamond to a rose gold setting with onyx the collection includes four pendants and five reversible rings – giving the wearer the freedom to choose between the hard stone or wind rose side out.

With both necklaces and bracelets made of white gold and mother-of-pearl, of yellow gold and lapis lazuli, turquoise and mother-of-pearl, or else rose gold with onyx and pink opal, as well as two sautoirs in yellow gold with turquoise, lapis lazuli and mother-of-pearl or chrysoprase, mother-of-pearl and pink opal.

Furthermore, Dior’s medallion will now also come in pavé diamond versions, as well as rose gold with onyx, including four pendants and five reversible rings.

The finer details of the craftmanship behind such stunning jewellery involved using the age-old lost wax technique; the first step in creating the jewel was cutting it out by hand in an easily malleable green resin.

The wax was replaced by gold, which was then carefully reworked to defined the jewel.

Victoire’s design of a ‘twisting rope of gold rice grains’ around the medallion is a nod to sailors on open sea, making the finishing details of the collection finer than ever.
