• Kaelen Felix is a worldwide award-winning American illustrator, author, and poet. She is known for her whimsical style, featuring a unique variety of detailed textures. Her meticulous patience in her depictions of water, wood, trees, grasslands, and mountains. Her work demonstrates exceptional skills; despite the obstacles with perspective her perseverance maintained honing the artistic craft while being able to overcome the hurdles. Kaelen, a native of Ballwin, Missouri, in the United States, displayed remarkable talent in preschool, where peers commended her art. Inspired by nature and animals, she uses vibrant colors that captivate the viewer. Her influence, was undoubtedly inspired by Eric Carle. While she loved reading his books on her own at age seven, she was beyond captivated by the movement of colors, the beauty in nature, and his love for poetry.

Her passion for art never wavered. Tenacity while a burning desire and a great deal of determination keeps her creative spirits alive.
A graduate of Memphis College of Art in 2018 with her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Illustration, her main focus during that time period was rooted in children’s literature. Kaelen always thrived tremendously under pressure, and she continues to follow her passion to this day.
Right after college, she started to illustrate for various clients: A Colorful Balloon Ride (2018), Freddy the Foster Frog Series (2020 & 2022) (Book 1 & 2), Crabby Abby the Decorator Crab’s Big Heart (2025), and her very own which came out almost a year ago!
…So, how did Kaelen come to grips with her dream? How did she decide to change her life entirely? And maybe even permanently. Meanwhile, the best is yet to come.
During a period from an unpredictable situation…she fell apart and completely sank into a major depression. When she nearly gave up on her art, she almost threw away her career. Her soul and presence became crushed, shattered, and completely broken.
Then, one day, a voice of higher power said, “Kaelen, it is time to write one more time. Put your heart into it, because I know you can do it.”
…and then, that was the best turning point in her life. She instantly connected in tune with her writing skills and mastered this hurdle of putting sentences into a major story! “Wings and Whispers: Tales of Friendship, Volumes One to Four finally emerged! Once she managed to overcome her deepest weakness, she transformed her confidence and became a happier artist.
In fact, she is a spirited butterfly, and feeling so rejuvenated to finally see her purpose as an artist.
The stories were written in almost four months, and then in December 2023, she was accepted by a publisher! All the struggles, turmoil, and hardship led her to every accomplishment, and she’s not taking it for granted, and in fact, her story has yet to be told, and she’s ready for the world to know her name.
On March 17th, 2025, she published her very own book that she wrote, illustrated, and designed, Wings and Whispers: Tales of Friendship Volume 1. It creates a safe place for the animals of the earth to co-exist, like humans and kids, to learn to put differences aside and get along. Even though she was afraid to publish this, she mastered the courage to overcome her fears. She found the strength within to be able to share her inner secret…her passion to be an author.
She even published a coloring book for her book and the Crabby Abby book!
She’s won three awards in less than a year for Wings and Whispers: Tales of Friendship Volume 1. She’s earned certificate recognition and awards from other countries. She has been featured on the covers of magazines and exhibitions in the Philippines, and she isn’t done yet.
The first edition is available on Amazon, Walmart, Target, Barnes & Noble, and many more.
It’s also available nationally and internationally, especially on Amazon.

  • Ms. Felix’s process is about using mixed-media pastels and creates work that makes her work shine across every page. She was originally a watercolourist, and she felt it was time to make artwork with more vibrancy, a beautiful safe space for everyone to feel welcomed and at peace with any kind of emotion.
  • She usually starts with pencil, outlines in pen, and then begins an undercoating of watercolor, (ironically)…then she then transfers to gouache sometimes. She finally discovered her love for pastels, such as colored pencils, and watercolor pencils. Occasionally she applies a couple extra highlights to the art piece to enhance the colors further.

As Kaelen’s career soars, she can’t wait for the future to unfold, a beautiful canvas waiting for more illustrative style to continually morph and grow, and amazing colors to shine throughout her artistic career.
Kaelen’s latest projects coming up are Wings and Whispers Tales of Friendship Volume 2 and Crabby Abby 2 both set to be released in 2026!
