A Long-Awaited Return After Six Years: Tabarka Jazz Festival Unveils the Program of Its 20th Edition The press conference for the 20th edition of the Tabarka Jazz Festival was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Opera Theater courtyard in the Chedly Klibi City of Culture in Tunis. The festival is scheduled to take place from July 2 to July 9, 2026. The event was attended by Jendouba Regional Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Walid Massaoudi, Director General of the Tunisian National Tourism Office Mohamed Mehdi Hallaoui, members of the organizing committee, officials from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and representatives of national and international media outlets. The meeting provided an opportunity to unveil the main features of this new edition, which carries particular significance as it marks the festival’s return to the cultural scene after a six-year hiatus, reviving one of Tunisia’s most prominent international music events that has long been associated with the city of Tabarka. Walid Massaoudi stressed that the return of the Tabarka Jazz Festival was made possible thanks to the close follow-up and commitment of Minister of Cultural Affairs Amina Srarfi to support major cultural events across the regions while preserving their artistic identity. He also highlighted the support provided by the Governor of Jendouba, which helped overcome various challenges and accelerate preparations for this exceptional edition. He added that the festival represents a major cultural and symbolic value, having hosted some of the world’s leading jazz artists throughout its previous editions, making its return a highly anticipated cultural event for lovers of refined music in Tunisia and abroad. For his part, Mohamed Mehdi Hallaoui underlined the importance of the festival in promoting cultural tourism in Tabarka, noting that its return would attract a specific category of visitors and jazz enthusiasts, thereby boosting the region’s economic and tourism activities. Several national cultural institutions and departments within the Ministry of Cultural Affairs have joined efforts to ensure the success of this edition, including the Tunis Opera Theater, the National Institution for the Development of Festivals and Cultural Events, the Tunisian Organization for Copyright and Related Rights, the Heritage Revival and Cultural Development Agency, and the Regional Delegation for Cultural Affairs in Jendouba, alongside various other administrative and logistical bodies. Organizers revealed a rich and diverse program combining major performances at the Sea Theater with “Street Jazz” shows. The main concerts will begin on Friday, July 3, 2026, with Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodríguez, while American singer Liz McComb will perform on Saturday, July 4. On Sunday, July 5, audiences will enjoy “Origins” by Yacine Boularès and Sofiane Saidi, followed by Lebanese pianist Tarek Yamani on Monday, July 6. On Tuesday, July 7, the public will be treated to the performance “We Exist” by renowned American jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater. Cuban artist Raúl Paz will take the stage on Wednesday, July 8, before the festival concludes on Thursday, July 9, with performances by American artists Veronica Swift and Akua Naru. The Street Jazz program also reflects a diversity of musical experiences from Tunisia and several friendly and neighboring countries. It will open on July 2 with Algerian artist Djamel Laroussi and continue with performances by artists and bands from Portugal, Serbia, Tunisia, and Algeria, as part of a vision aimed at bringing jazz music closer to all audiences and creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city of Tabarka during the festival. This 20th edition confirms that the Tabarka Jazz Festival is returning not only as a prestigious artistic event after years of absence, but also as a cultural and tourism project reflecting the success of the joint efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and all stakeholders to restore the festival’s international radiance and reinforce Tabarka’s position as a Mediterranean destination for music, culture, and tourism.
