Brad Pitt has announced that he will be releasing a limited-edition Fleur de Miraval rose champagne worth $390 (£292) a bottle. The actor owns the Miraval Chateau and vineyard in France alongside ex-wife Angelina Jolie, and he is now launching a limited run of 20,000 bottles across the US. The bottles have been made from a blend of 75 percent Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and 25 percent Pinot Noir, and they are expected to be released on October 15. It is said that the drink has been inspired by Countess Fleur de Miraval, who only drank rose champagne to honour her southern French roots.

Last week, Brad was seen travelling to the French vineyard with his rumoured love interest Nicole Poturalski. The trip itself was said to be one of business, with the star finalising the details of the first edition launch of the alcoholic drink. Brad, 56, has collaborated on the project alongside the Perrin family and grower champagne house Pierre Peters, which is run by family member Rudolphe Peters. Speaking to People, the Hollywood star said of this new opportunity: ‘For me, champagne conjures up feelings of celebration, quality, prestige and luxury. But rose champagne is still relatively unknown.

‘I wanted us to try to create the defining brand of rose champagne, focusing all our efforts on just this one colour. The result is spectacular and I’m very proud of it.’ He continued: ‘Miraval isn’t a “celebrity” wine. It’s an exceptional estate that I fell in love with and that I continue to invest in to make it one of the finest estates in Provence. ‘Together with the Perrin family, we’re in it for the long term. It’s not just a passing trend.’

Meanwhile, the Perrin family have said: ‘This project is, first and foremost, an artistic venture, because producing fine wines is a form of artistic creation. ‘We have known Rudolphe Peters for many years, and like him, we are passionate about the great wines of the world.
