Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity

THE ALL-AFRICAN MOVEMENTS ASSEMBLY (AAMA 2022)

ARUSHA, TANZANIA – Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity is hosting the largest gathering of people of African descent to deliberate on major worrying issues that Africans continue to face across the continent and in the diaspora.

The assembly will be held on the 29 – 31st August, 2022 at MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) in Arusha, Tanzania.

AAMA will bring together over 750 delegates with at least one representative drawn from each country in Africa for a hybrid conversation. The convening will be under the theme,

AfricaforAfricans: Building Pan-African Solidarity for the #AfricaWeWant

The purpose of this conference is to afford us the opportunity to discuss why we were created, learn from our journeys so far, reflect on our past learnings of building the movement of movements, engage on critical issues affecting Africans and how we can build solidarity to shape the #AfricaWeWant.

Furthermore, Africa continues to face serious threats and challenges such as insecurity, securitisation of elections and political processes, return of military governments, arbitrary arrests of activists and journalists,
extra-judicial killings, detention without trial, curtailing online freedoms and increased surveillance and internet shutdown (UDHR of 1948). Critical issues to be discussed during

AAMA are:

● Pandemics and Activism
● Climate Justice
● Feminist Justice
● Economic Justice and Dignity for Africans
● Civic space, protection of activists and activist movements
● Migration and borderless Africa
● Youth ideologies and looking into the future
● Pan African culture, freedom of expression and renaissance

“AAMA is an opportunity to re-energize our belief and action towards Africa unity and continue the work on delivering the true liberation and dignity of all Africans wherever they are”, says Muhammed Lamin Saidykhan, Africans Rising Movement Co-coordinator.

Prior to the All-African Movements Assembly (AAMA), regional convenings were held across the five regions (Central, West, East, North and Southern Africa).

These consultations provided a unique opportunity to engage grassroot movements and get their contributions towards building a stronger Africa.

The convening will ignite the possible creation of the following: Solidarity Action Network Building, Borderless Africa Campaign, Reparation and African currency campaigns.

The AAMA will be used as an avenue to re-energize our vision of mobilization for Africans to give one US Dollar per month for the financial resilience to support activists’ work and sustain Africans Rising movement.

The critical outcomes of AAMA will be: (i) members to participate in the strategy development process of Africans Rising and adoption of Kilimanjaro 2.0 which will serve as our vision statement and direction for the next years to come (ii) Creation of specific campaigns to advance justice, peace and dignity for Africans everywhere (iii) To create a solidarity network for rapid response to African issues and challenges driven by unity of action and singleness of purpose. (iv) To document through a peer learning process shared strategies, approaches and best practices for collaborative working for the Africa We Want.
